How to Copy a TikTok Video Link on Mobile and Desktop
Copy a link to one TikTok video, recognize short links, and fix profile links or pasted share text before using a downloader.
A downloader needs the address of an individual video. A creator profile, a sound page, and a search result may all open TikTok, but they do not identify the single video you want to save.
Start by opening the actual post. After copying its link, check that it still opens the intended video in your browser. This catches the most common input mistakes before you submit anything.
Copy from the mobile app
- Open the video you want to share.
- Open its Share menu and look for Copy link. The placement can vary with the app version and available sharing options.
- Paste into a text field so you can inspect the result.
- Keep the HTTPS address itself. If the share action included a caption or an invitation to open TikTok, remove that surrounding text before submitting the link.
- Open the address once to confirm that it points to the correct post.
TikTok documents sharing posts through the post's Share menu in its sharing guide. A missing sharing option should not be treated as permission to access unavailable content.
Copy from a desktop browser
Open the video on TikTok, rather than remaining on a creator's grid or search page. Select the full address in the browser's address bar and copy it. On Windows, Ctrl+L selects the address; on macOS, Command+L does the same.
If clicking a thumbnail opens an overlay, check whether the address changed to a video URL. If it did not, use the post's own sharing controls to obtain its link. Copying a thumbnail image address gives an image URL, not a video link.
Recognize the link you copied
These are illustrative patterns, not working sample posts.
| Pattern | What it represents | Suitable input? |
|---|---|---|
https://www.tiktok.com/@creator/video/1234567890 | One video | Yes, if the real post is publicly available |
https://vm.tiktok.com/EXAMPLE/ | TikTok short link | Yes, if it resolves to a supported video |
https://www.tiktok.com/t/EXAMPLE/ | Another TikTok short-link form | Yes, subject to its destination |
https://www.tiktok.com/@creator | Creator profile | No |
A URL containing /music/ | Sound page | No; choose a video that uses the sound |
| A photo post, playlist, or search page | A different content type | Not supported by this single-video workflow |
A short link hides the final destination. Its appearance alone does not prove that the content is available or supported.
When the copied link fails
Check for an incomplete address, punctuation appended after the URL, or multiple links pasted together. Use the original TikTok URL rather than a copied media delivery address: media URLs can expire.
If a link opens a login prompt, an unavailable post, or a different item, return to TikTok and check the source. Changing the spelling of a URL cannot restore a removed video. Do not enter account passwords or session cookies into a downloader.
Once you have a complete public video link and permission to save the content, paste it into TikTokSaver. Check the returned preview before choosing a download format.
Quick check before submitting
Confirm all four points: one address, HTTPS, a TikTok domain, and one intended public video. If those checks pass but processing fails, the next question is source availability, not where the Copy link button is.
